The Good Patient....

I am so proud of Kyla! Today, she had to endure yet another oral surgery! The
Periodontist commented on what a "good patient" she is! (I have heard that same comment from many Drs) Her mouth has been quite a challenge (her teeth and the words that come out of it) ha, ha J/k! Anywho, her first surgery about 4 yrs ago was for the same thing.... removing all the access "enamel pearls" that were embedded amongst her teeth & roots on her bottom jaw. They also removed a front baby tooth that never came up to allow the adult tooth to move up! Well, a year later.... that adult tooth never moved, so we had to do a surgery to expose the tooth and attatch a button & chain. Even with the use of her orthodontics.... that tooth has just been as stubborn as ever & has not cooperated! Now we know why! More "enamal pearls" were attatched to & around that tooth. So after todays surgery, the extend of the problem became known. She had seven "smaller" pearls and one very large one...... the size of a tooth. They actually had to dig in the bone to fully extract it. Unfortunately, that enamal pearl was taking up the entire bone "cavity" where the tooth should have been. So once it heals and the tooth can be moved back into its proper place, the doctor is hoping that the tooth makes the "transfer" without dying. That would totally suck! All those surgeries were mainly about that tooth.....and if we loose it.... what a waste! Plus, she has one more surgery after this one heals! She has to have a skin graph done on that tooth! Yikes! I told Kyla, that between her many years of orthodontist work and oral surgeries...... she's gonna have a million-dollar mouth.... or a mouth made of gold! ;)
